Chylidn, Carnon Downs, Truro

Our clients, Spectrum (the Autistic Trust) had acquired this detached house and awarded Chapman the contract to carry out a complete refurbishment in preparation for its new use by the charity.

The main building now provides a home for four individuals, with a fifth resident living in a self contained flat which was created in part of the property.

The project involved the installation of a rainwater harvesting system, which provides the water used to flush the toilets, together with various other features designed especially to ensure the comfort and safety of the occupants.

  • Architects were CAD, Penryn office
  • Building Services were specified by SMP M&E Consultants, Truro
  • Quantity Surveying was by the Harvey Partnership, Helston
"Spectrum had primarily been involved with Chapman Construction when they had rectified some sub standard work by another firm that had occurred on one of our properties. When we purchased Chylidn and agreed the refurbishment specification Chapman's were the natural first choice to undertake the project. From inception to completion the whole process was handled excellently by Phil and his team, regular meetings with all the stakeholders quickly ironed out any glitches, and the inevitable changes in mid contract were dealt with in an exemplary manner. Upon completion, despite all the variables, we were delivered an excellent house three weeks ahead of schedule which is now home to five young men with a diagnosis of an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)."
Mr Robin Gunson, Spectrum
